LANDSCAPE PHOTOGRAPHERS
One of the finest bits of advice that can be given to those wishing to improve their landscape photography techniques is to use the work of established practitioners as a source of inspiration. It is from such work that the budding landscape photographer gets a feeling for what (in terms of light, composition and subsequent processing) works and, perhaps from subsequent reference to the so-called “rules” of landscape photography, why it works.
That is how I learned and, I would venture to suggest, that is how many of those who would now be regarded as “established” took their first tentative steps in the genre of landscape photography.
With that in mind, here is a selection of links to the portfolios of those photographers from whom, over the years, I have derived (and continue to derive!) valuable inspiration in the context of technique and style.
The list is not exhaustive, neither is it intended to be definitive. Furthermore, in order to avoid the drawing of inadvertent (and probably wrong!) conclusions, it is presented in strict alphabetic order. Note particularly that the portfolios of these photographers are not restricted to landscapes alone but contain a sprinkling of nature photography, urban landscapes, interior photography, digital artwork and digital manipulation.
